Lewis Edward Boykin Sr., of Muncie, Indiana, passed away at the age of 82.

He was born on March 12, 1944, to Claude and Lula Boykin, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Joseph, and Chester Boykin, all of Muncie, Indiana, and his nephews, Paul Jr. Boykin of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Gerald Cole of Muncie, Indiana.

He is survived by his sons, Lewis Jr. (Laurie) Boykin of Noblesville, Indiana, and Jason Boykin of Muncie, Indiana; his siblings, Betty, Claudine, Louise, Mary, and Michael; his grandchildren, Isaiah, Abria, Aliyah, Andre, and Xavier; along with many extended family members and friends.

Lewis Sr. worked for Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana, for 36 years. Known for his dedication, he was a dependable and committed employee who set a strong example through his consistency. That same work ethic began early…he maintained perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade, reflecting a lifelong belief in showing up, working hard, and taking responsibility. He also proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Above all, he was an outstanding father. He devoted himself to his boys: playing basketball, baseball, tennis, fishing, and almost any activity or sport. One this he did 100% of the time…He made every Christmas and birthday special, creating lasting memories filled with love.

He enjoyed music and had an amazing voice, loved playing the lottery, and followed nearly every sport. He was also incredibly comical, with a natural sense of humor that could make anyone laugh.

A terrific role model and lasting influence, his work ethic, love, and spirit will live on through his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered…R.I.P!
